Mr. Ramrod 2009
I am a Florida native who left the metropolis of Plant City and farm life
for he bright lights of “Hotlanta” after graduating from the University of
Florida.
My partner Ben and I have been together for over 22 years and lived in
Atlanta most of those years. Our 24 year old daughter, Stephanie, supports
us completely and insists on pictures of events.
My love for brotherhood and, ultimately, leather formed in my early years as
the middle of three boys and I ,along with my partner, have been dumbfounded
at the cohesion, support, and philanthropy of the Leather Community in South
Florida since we arrived in 2005. The South Florida Leather Community has
not only welcomed us with open arms but also it has taught us life lessons
about ourselves.
I personally have a new outlook on my place in the community and the
responsibility I have to aid, assist, and represent our leather community in
South Florida. More importantly, I have learned that one person can make a
huge difference in the community and that the Whole of the leather community
is much greater than the sum of the parts. It’s amazing what can be
accomplished and what has been accomplished is awe-inspiring.
I had the honor of being named Mr. Ramrod 2009 amidst a contestant pool that
shone brighter than the sun. Each of my fellow Mr. Ramrod 2009 classmates
has great attributes and contributes immensely to the community. I am
humbled to have been selected this year. My intention is for my title year
to be filled with charitable events, community programs, and with making
every effort in my power to promote the leather community.
With this said, I am only an average, and somewhat quiet, guy but I am one
who has a higher vision and hope for our community. I have strong beliefs in
being truthful, genuine, supportive, hardworking, and non self-indulgent. In
my book, everyone is treated equally, fairly, and given compassion. I am
willing to work hard for the benefit of others and have a “never-say-never”
attitude on life.
